Hands-on: Pumpkin Artistry and Etching – From Logos to Portraits! with New Pi’s Miriam Alarcon-Avila

Tues., Sept. 26, 6-7:30PM at New Pi Coralville

$10/person + $20 materials fee

You’ve carved a jack-o-lantern with triangle eyes and a jagged smile. You may have even experimented with stencils of witches, or free-handed really spooky eyes and a curled, evil smile! Those are fun and spirited, but they’re just scratching the surface of what is possible. Join multi-media artist and longtime New Pi Pastry Chef Miriam Alarcon-Avila as she demonstrates techniques to make vegetables truly spectacular and come to life. Skills used with clay, ice sculpture, etching, and even sand sculpture transfer perfectly to pumpkin carving, and she’ll show you how to apply techniques you might already be familiar with.

This class is hands-on and includes a pumpkin and set of beginner carving tools for each participant to take home! Space is limited to allow for more one-on-one instruction.

Also being held:

Sat., Oct. 7, 10-11:30AM at New Pi Cedar Rapids
