Traditional Pasta Sauces Cooking Class with Julie Parisi of ZaZa's Pasta
Tue, Jan 30, 2018 from 6pm - 8pm
Julie Parisi learned to cook at the apron strings of her Nonna (Italian grandmother), and learned from the tender age of 8 that food is for sharing. She created Zaza's Pastas –lovely handmade pasta available on New Pi shelves – and wants to share a few of her favorite classic sauce recipes with us!
We will start by making a classic tomato sauce (Sugo di Pomodoro) and build on it to create a fantastic Bolognese meat sauce. Students will also learn how to make a classic basil pesto and learn variations on the basic recipe for unique flavor profiles. Finally, we will also create a creamy alfredo sauce from scratch. All of the sauces cooked in this class will feature simple, clean ingredients for sauces that can be used for something as easy as saucing a pasta or incorporated into other recipes. You'll be saying "Buon Appetito!" in no time.
