International Writing Program 50th Anniversary Gala
IWP: Five Decades of Bringing the World to Iowa
Wed, Oct 11, 2017 at 6pm
On Wednesday, October 11, the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa is celebrating a milestone, and we would love to be joined by friends and supporters, near and far.
The 50th Anniversary Gala & Fundraiser will feature readings and addresses by prominent IWP alumni Luljeta Lleshanaku (Albania, ’99), Ya Hsien (Taiwan, ’67), Bi Feiyu (China, ’06), and Lorna Goodison (Jamaica, ’83).
A multilingual sound and dance performance, based on Walt Whitman’s verse, will showcase an original composition by Jean-François Charles and choreography by George de la Peña.
And there will be a silent auction and dishes from five continents. A reception will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Each table will be joined by two visiting writers from around the world.
For early bids on silent auction items, visit 32auctions.com/iwp50
